Designed and handcrafted in Norfolk, UK, the keyhole board is adept at making for an attractive display as it is being your perfect serving and chopping companion. The smooth finish of the board shows off the beautiful patternation in the grain.
This piece of wood was particularly beautiful and equally challenging as there were many surface tears along some of the spalting (which isn't uncommon). Repair details were used to cover the tears, stabilising the wood from further cracking or warping.
Spalting describes the process by which certain fungi grow on dead or fallen trees leaving distinguished patterns across the surface of the wood. The process slowly evolves over several years to reach the ideal stage to cut and season the timber.
The board is cut from an individual piece of sustainably sourced local spalted beech and finished with a food safe oil for added strength and protection.
Our boards are designed for longevity and easy to look after. To keep your board looking vibrant we advise reading our product care section
