The Serving Board is adept at making for an attractive display as it is being your perfect chopping and serving companion. The smooth finish of the board shows off the beautiful grain in the oak. The board is cut from individual pieces of sustainably sourced local spalted hornbeam.
Spalting describes the process by which certain fungi grow on dead or fallen trees leaving distinguished patterns across the surface of the wood. The process slowly evolves over several years to reach the ideal stage to cut and season the timber.
The board is finished with a food safe oil for added strength and protection and all blemishes and knots are sealed with organic beeswax. Round beech repair details were added to cover small blemishes in the grain, this strengthens the wood from further tears or warping.
